Frequently asked questions about having your dissertation designed

We imagine you might have some questions when it comes to designing a dissertation. Below you will find answers on common questions to get yourself started.

Design process

Is there currently availability for designing my dissertation?

At this time we have immediate availability to design your dissertation for you. We invite you to contact us for more information

How much time does it take for you to design my dissertation?

How long it takes to shape your dissertation depends on your requirements. The fastest path to your dissertation is through the basic package. With this package, we can design your dissertation within 4 weeks. With the personal package we can shape your dissertation within 5 weeks and with the premium package within 6 weeks. However, with the personal and premium packages, we recommend contacting us 8 weeks before the desired completion date. That way you give yourself some more time to review the draft versions you receive from us.

Can the design process be expedited?

Yes, that's possible! Usually, through our rush procedure, we can still make room to shape your dissertation within 1 week. We then charge a surcharge of 100 euros. However, it is not always possible to create a personalized cover within 1 week. So it is possible that we have to go for a basic cover. To know exactly what is possible you will have to contact us. Please note that a delivery time of only one week means that you have little time to review the draft version.

Are there interim check points to adjust the design?

Yes, you will get to see several draft versions in between, so you can follow the design process and make adjustments as needed. In principle, two feedback moments take place for a basic design; three moments take place for the personal and premium design.

How do interim check points take place?

Feedback on the draft version in a basic version is primarily by email, unless ambiguities arise. In the case of a personalized version (for the cover or interior), it is also possible to schedule a virtual discussion via Teams, Zoom, or the like. This is done by mutual agreement.

Can we plan additional interim contact moments?

Yes, it is always possible to schedule additional contact moments. If this contact moment is related to the delivery of an additional draft version of your dissertation, however, we will have to charge an additional fee of 30 euros per hour for this.

Can any corrections be made to the completed dissertation?

We understand that there can always be a small thing overlooked in the draft versions, or that we may not have fully understood each other after all during one of the earlier contact moments. One-time minor changes are therefore possible, up to one week (seven days) after completion at the latest. However, this does not include the addition of new elements.

The sample designs listed on the website appeal to me but look different from what I envision for my own dissertation, does that matter?

With our personal and premium package, you can have complete freedom to have a cover and/or interior design made to your taste. Here you are not bound to the kind of styles we show as examples of previous work on the website.

How do I know what (additional) requirements my institution has for the design of the dissertation?

In most cases, you can find the minimum requirements in the doctoral regulations of your university or research institution. Pay special attention to requirements of the phrasing on the inside of your cover page.

Delivery

How should I submit the interior of my dissertation to you?

We would like to receive the interior of your dissertation as a word document. We expect that you have positioned the tables and figures in the correct place in the document for reference.

How should I submit the figures?

Figures must be referenced in the word document and submitted as separate files. You can submit figures as different file formats (AI, EPS, TIFF, PNG, JPG, PDF). To ensure quality, we recommend that figures have a minimum resolution of 300 DPI.

How should I submit table data?

You can leave tables in the word document, they do not need to be supplied separately.

In what file format will my dissertation be delivered?

You will receive a pdf file from us upon delivery containing the complete interior of your dissertation. You will be sent each of the following versions:

- Print version. In this, the margins on left and right pages are alternately staggered.
- Digital version. This does not distinguish between left and right pages. You can use this version for digital distribution, or for inclusion in your institution's digital library, for example.

Can I receive a thesis in grayscale as well as color?

Most printers charge an additional fee for each page the color contains, regardless of the amount of color. We understand that in the digital version of your dissertation you may like to use colored text in your headers and footers, while it is a 'waste' to pay for this in the printed version. Therefore, by arrangement, you will receive a separate print version formatted in grayscale.

Payment

After quote approval, when will design begin?

We will start working for you as soon as you have agreed to the offer. You may receive additional questions from us to better understand your needs.

What is the payment term?

Payment must be in no later than the time of completion.

Is there a need for a down payment?

After we receive your acceptance of our offer, we request a small down payment after which we will start working on your design.

What are you bank account details?

Our payment information is listed on the final quote and the invoice you both receive when you award us your design job.

Why is your asking price lower than I find with many other parties?

Multiple factors determine the asking price we and other parties charge. We work exclusively with digital design techniques, which reduces our material costs. Also, the experience we have gained from designing our own dissertations has allowed us to set up an efficient process. This allows us to spend more time on your wishes, while we have little to worry about the underlying technology. So you pay mainly for the personal time, and less for the overhead.
